Acupuncture at C3 Wellness

Who would have thought that using hair-thin needles properly could make a difference in the lives and health of so many for millennia?!
Welcome to the world of Acupuncture, one of the several pieces of the circle known as Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Acupuncture has been around for some 4000 years. Its exact origin is shrouded in mystery but its effectiveness is unquestioned. The World Health Organization lists it for the treatment of over 200 diseases and conditions. They include:
Our Training
As Acupuncture Physicians, our training is intense and detailed. A B.S. or B.A. is usually required for admission, followed by a 4-year program which includes a year or 2 of clinical rounds. All in all, the average is around 2700 hours. Many choose to pursue advanced degrees and training, adding another 1-2 years to the mix.
Training includes detailed oriental medical theory, unique diagnostic methods such as pulse, tongue and hara (stomach area) diagnosis, microsystems (using a part of the body to treat the whole such as the ear), herbs, nutrition, cupping, and a host of other traditional treatment. Some 30% of education also involves Western medicine.
Don’t Confuse the Practice and the Practitioners
It is rather unfortunate that the waters have been muddled in the world of acupuncture. Health providers such as chiropractors and other therapists advertise “doing acupuncture” or the watered-down version of it – “dry needling.” While these individuals may in fact, be outstanding in their field, the insufficient training and lack of understanding of Traditional Chinese Medicine as a whole has been problematic for patients.
Taking one branch from a tree and calling it a tree, does not make it a tree. Consequentially, their treatment results are often poor, incomplete or sometimes dangerous (2). Even lawyers and medical personnel have warned chiropractors, for example, to “stay in their own lane.” (3)
You may also hear terms such as “science-based” or “medical-based” acupuncture but the truth is, we all do science-based and medical-based acupuncture as noted by Harvard Medical school. They gathered and analyzed over 400 studies on the topic noting its usefulness when done properly.
Marketing jargon does not make things more effective. Training and experience do.
The Difference That Makes the Difference
Here at C3 Wellness Spas, our Acupuncture Physicians have a combined 80 years of practice with over 90,000 treatments completed during this time. Patients from all walks of life and corners of the globe, ages 8 to 94, with problems ranging from A to Z have been helped, often with dramatic results.
One of the main reasons for our longevity and success here at C3 Wellness is that we treat people, not disease. We use Acupuncture as one branch from the entire tree to help address physical, mental, emotional and spiritual issues.
The famous psychiatrist Carl Jung once wrote, “Wholeness is not achieved by cutting off a portion of one’s being but by integration of the contraries.” He would have fit it well in the world of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
